Dr. Bederman has experience in eating disorder treatment at all levels of care including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient.
Her treatment philosophy combines the critical understanding of medical and psychiatric presentations, symptoms and consequences of eating disorders, medication management, and a strong psychotherapeutic alliance. Additionally, identification and treatment of co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses is an essential component of eating disorder treatment.
Eating disorder treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach, Dr. Bederman can work directly with your family and other involved parties (school, athletic coach), dietitian, psychologist or therapist (individual, family), and physicians.
Treatment Structure:
Dr. Bederman aims to provide longitudinal, comprehensive psychiatric care for individuals with eating disorders. She will serve as patient’s primary psychiatrist for outpatient eating disorder treatment. Patients should expect up to a 2 hour intake appointment, allowing for review of eating disorder history and other medical and psychiatric history, and family meeting. 45 minute follow-up sessions will include medication management and family meetings.
Eating disorder treatment is not always linear, and patients sometimes require escalation to a higher level of care. Dr. Bederman may recommend inpatient or residential treatment, and will be available after for continued care.
